"Beam me up, Scotty!"
So begins an iconic phrase from the early days of Star Trek. It’s followed by an equally iconic phrase: “There’s no intelligent life down here.” I chose this title for my talk because it vividly—and I hope humorously—captures how I felt Wednesday morning. To be more explicit would not be printable in a church bulletin.
